The Melbourne Tigers fought off a the Hawks in Wollongong on Friday night in probably their last ever meeting due to the New-High Roller-NBL starting next season, a league that will probably not feature the leagues only remaining Foundation team. In doing so the Tigers also took the "mathematically" out of the locals chances of making the playoffs,
This is not the place to rant, but perhaps if the League even half scrutinised Salary Caps this century teams like Hawks, Cairns, Newcastle & Canberra could still play a part of the league - Sydney and Brisbane also, but they fell for due to the collapse of their owners not just trying to spend enough to keep up with the Jones' (aka Melbourne, NZ, South etc) or be the Jones' on the way to their Championship successes.
For a team supposedly spending half of their opposition, Wollongong, without Larry Davidson and Anthony Petrie on one leg and one working shoulder put up strong performances against the hot Tigers twice in the last fortnight - throwing away a double figure lead two weeks ago, and being within striking distance inside the last couple of minutes this week - pretty much the story of their season with about a dozen losses within a handful of points.
Getting back on topic, here's the BigPix - there's also a bonus officiation error BigPix for Rd 20
